Rush Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
"Rush, Canada's most successful rock band, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, appropriately in front of the Musicians Institute on Hollywood Boulevard. On hand to induct the musicians were Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan and Donna Halper, a former music director at Cleveland's WMMS-FM who was among the first to champion the enduring band's 1974 self-titled debut album...Frontman-bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson were in attendance to claim the 2,412th star on the Walk of Fame. Noticeably absent was drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, who was riding a motorcycle to the band's first tour date in Albuquerque on Tuesday." - Hollywood Reporter, June 25, 2010

What... what... there's an echo in here.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I say FINALLY! A little more recognition for a band that has been under recognized throughout their career. The talent & ability that oozes from Geddy, Alex, & Neil is incredible and doesn't receive anywhere near the accolades it should. Congrats guys!
Is the band going to be there?
ReplyDeleteI was there this afternoon, and it was awesome! Ged and Alex showed up. Ged said that Neil was on his bike on the way to their first gig!
ReplyDeleteDonna Halper and Billy Corgan said a few words, and then Ged and Alex said a few words. Ged said it was one of only a few "surreal" moments for him and that it's been a long journey from the suburns of Toronto to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ged was cool enough to sign some autographs for the fans, and folks really appreciated it.
Funny moment: the Walk of Fame speaker pronounced "2112" as "2-1-1-2." Billy Corgan corrected him!
Let me know if you want me to send some pics, although I'm sure the pros got plenty of great shots.
Great time today -- can't wait for the tour!
Right on. I actually ended up going too.
ReplyDeleteWere Cherie Currie and Joan Jett in attendance as well?We all know how much those two just ADORE Geddy Lee *Wink*
ReplyDeleteGreat day it was! It was good to see Ged and Alex in Hollywood. I drove out from AZ. Perfect day to see my music idols!!! Alex signed a bunch of autographs too. Watched them being whisked away in style. They departed the east side of Musician's Institute in "escape!" mode in a black s.u.v. with tinted windows. Alex waved and they were gone in seconds!!! Closest I have ever been to my hereos. Kind of made me happy and gloomy simultaneously. Didn't want to see them leave ya know?! Fan for 25 years now....wow. New Caravan song is DOOOOOPE!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a YouTube link on what the Runaways experienced opening for Rush.

The Runaways suck.
ReplyDeleteForgive my ignorance but why was Corgan there?
