"R30" Complete Edition BluRay

The R30 Complete Edition Blu-Ray is released today, including Rush's complete concert from Frankfurt, Germany, on September 24, 2004. Unlike the DVD release which omitted Bravado, YYZ, The Trees, One Little Victory, Secret Touch, Red Sector A, La Villa Strangiato and By-Tor and the Snow Dog, those tracks have been restored to their original running order for this high definition release:
"Some of the songs were dropped from R30 due to technical reasons but also we didn't want to have too many similarities with Rush In Rio. Why not? Well, I think now that it was a dumb decision of ours. In fact I regret not having put the whole show on those disks. But I promise you, all those songs that were cut will eventually see the light of day, in some shape or form." - Geddy Lee, Aardschok Magazine, March 2006
Unfortunately, unlike the DVD release which includes a bonus disk containing over 1:30 minutes of interviews and bonus features, the Blu-Ray version contains the concert feature only. Click here for more information.

  1. I though that R30 was not even shot in HD? Plus I don't like the double dipping aspect of this release

  2. I am NOT buying a blu-ray player for just 1 show. And one I already own for the most part. I have a very large selection of Laserdiscs (including 'Through The Camera Eye'& other RUSH concerts)which I think is far superior to DVD. If you want to be selective about your release, just release it in Japan on Laserdisc so I can bid for it on Ebay & the Japanese Post Office can get some money as well! (see mom, I'm helping the global economy) Otherwise this is a middle finger to fans. Not our fault you weren't selected again for the Hall of Shame. Don't worry, the ticket sales from Lame Nation & Ticketbastard should be enough!

  3. No one is putting a gun to your head and making you buy it.

  4. Wow, that's really a bummer. I don't have a Blu-Ray player, nor can I afford to run out and get one anytime soon. I think it's a shame that they're only releasing this in Blu-Ray. I wonder how many other dedicated fans will be left out in the cold on this one, as Blu-Ray is FAR from widespread right now.

  5. What kills me is the fact that I sold my DVD copy knowing that this was coming out. What I didn't realize was that I was getting screwed out of the bonus disc. If anything - the bluray version should have included even more stuff in addition to the "missing" songs. Ugh.

  6. you guys are a trip. Stop the whinning. I've seen every tour since Hemispheres. Enjoy whatever you receive from this band at this stage of their career. They are very best in what they do. This could definitely be the last tour.

  7. Zman, what does that have to do with anything?
One of the things that has been such a pleasure about Rush is they haven't denied us fans the opportunity to get good quality live shows on CD and DVD. They've somewhat eliminated the need for getting any bootlegs (King Crimson does this too). But, to some degree, they have spoiled us with EXCELLENT releases, complete with bonus footage, documentaries, etc. Hell, even Snakes and Arrows had a bonus version with a really great "making of" documentary. I will admit, I'm also surprised the Blu-Ray isn't chock full of added stuff, but even more surprising is that this is being released ONLY on Blu-Ray. This will spur me to have to purchase a Blu-Ray player, since Rush appears to be the ONLY band that makes me feel a bit "fan-boy" enough to do it. Still, I would have liked to have just bought a new DVD. I'm not complaining, mind you, but I'm just a bit surprised. But, that being said, I'm very much looking forward to a future release and tour from the fellas. Let me also go on record as saying that, when the day comes when Rush doesn't want to tour any longer, it's my sincere hope that they will at least remain a "studio" band, and that they will continue to release albums.

    LONG LIVE RUSH
